John Henry “Jinx” Whaley, 83, departed this life on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was born in Caraway, Arkansas, a place of which he loved, on October 12, 1939 to the late Robert E. Lee and Mable Shelton. Jinx was an outdoorsman and loved animals of all kinds. He loved working outside and cutting trees for his own company called Whaley Landscaping. He was young at heart and very mischievous. Jinx loved visiting with family and drinking coffee. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed all of those that knew him.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 11AM Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Houston Community Center in Mantachie with Bro. Robert Humphries officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM until service time. Private burial will follow in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.

He is survived by his sons, Johnny (Tina), Robert (Johnnie Fae), Jessie (April), Keith (Jenni); daughters, Sherry (Billy), Sharon (James), April (Chris); brother, Wayne (Carol); sister, Nancy; along with 30-plus grandchildren and 51-plus great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Whaley; brothers, Steve, Bobby, Wayford, Willard, Otis, and Jonah; and sisters, Suzie, Margarete, Tommie, Pearly, and Rosie.
