John Florian Dinkel, 81, of Huntsville, passed away Friday. Mr. Dinkel was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Helen Dinkel; brother, Walter Dinkel and daughter, Debra Ochoa.
He was a native of Leoti, KS and a resident of Madison County since 1974. Mr. Dinkel was a retired Master Sargent with the US Army having served 22 years. Afterwards, he served 20 years with Civil Service as an instructor at Redstone Arsenal. Mr. Dinkel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a member of Knights of the Round Table.
Mr. Dinkel is survived by his wife, Carol V. Dinkel; children, Marsha Jones and Rodney Dinkel (Sharon) ; son-in-law, Pedro Ochoa; grandchildren: Benjamin Ochoa, Bryan Ochoa (Jenny), Jeremy Jones, Matthew Jones (Moriah), Daniel Williams (Andrea), Alexander Dinkel (Lynn), Curtis Dinkel; his only granddaughter, Katelyn Dinkel; great-grandchildren: Kyler Ochoa, Desi Self, Callan Jones, Lawson Williams, and Nate Williams; brother, Frank Dinkel (Francis); two sisters, Barbara Stoeklin and Mary Ann Emery (Lyle); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. Chapel service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Blair Clark officiating. Burial will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans of America or to a favorite charity.
