John Erby Terry, 90, of Huntsville passed away Sunday. Mr. Terry, a native of Clarke County, was a WWII veteran who served with Army Eighth Air Force. A graduate of Auburn University with degrees in Applied Art and Mechanical Engineering, he retired from the Army Missile Command in 1987 and was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He was a member of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church.
Mr. Terry was preceded in death by first wife, Mary Anne Watson Terry; second wife, JoAnn Sturdivant Terry; father, Arthur L. Terry; mother, Daisye York Terry; brothers Emory Terry and Kenneth Terry; and sisters Margie Bumpers and Barbara Hamid.
Survivors include son, John E. Terry (Susanne); daughters, Linda Anne Lanford (Mark) and Mary Carol Lawrence (Scott); brother, Gilmer Terry of Arlington, VA; sisters, Elizabeth Counselman (Jimmy) and Sharon Terry, of Coffeeville; grandchildren, Josh Terry, Brad Lanford, Jackson Lawrence, Hollie Terry, and Mary Kathryn Lawrence, all of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. David Freeman and the Rev. Handy Avery officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Weatherly Heights Baptist Church Music Ministry.
