Graveside service for John Elmer Griffith, age 82, of Decatur, will be Monday, December 31, 2018, 12:30 p.m. at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to service.
Mr. Griffith, who died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at his residence, was born March 23, 1936, in California, to William Lester Griffith and Elsie Caston Griffith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Griffith, daughter, Julie Thomas, and his parents. Mr. Griffith was a U. S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by one son, John S. Griffith of Decatur; one daughter, Juanita Looney of Decatur; son-in-law, Donnie Thomas of Resaca, GA; two brothers; four sisters; six grandchildren, John Griffith, Justin Griffith, Shane Griffith, Casey Jennings, Lindsey Blackwell, and Sydney Thomas; and six great-grandchildren.
