John "Johnny" E. Chappell John Eldridge Chappell “Johnny” went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family on January 1, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1960 to the late Beverly and John Chappell and has many memories from the Sandusky community.

Johnny graduated from Minor High School in 1979 where he met and married his wife of 40 years Dina Morris Chappell. They moved to Corner where they raised their two children, Ashley and Logan. He was a member of New Temple Baptist Church in Dora Alabama for many years. “John boy” as his coworkers called him, retired in 2020 from a longtime career of 30+ years from Drummond Coal Company. He enjoyed spending time on the water with a fishing rod, laughing and making memories with his friends. Johnny was an avid Alabama fan, traveled to many places, and enjoyed time on the pontoon with family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be missed dearly.

He’s preceded in death by his parents John and Beverly Leonard Chappell.
Survivors include wife Dina Morris Chappell; children Ashley Chappell Turner (Trent) and Logan Chappell (Haley); grandchildren Callie, Molly, Heidi, and Lacey Turner; brother Kerry Chappell (Wendy); nieces and nephews Candace Vaughn (Jacob), Chris Blakey, and Chase Blakey; great nieces and nephews Brynnen, Braelyn, Millie, and Charlie Vaughn, and many other relatives and friends.

Johnny’s family welcomes you to join them in honoring his life at the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 5-8pm. Chapel Service beginning at 11am on Friday, January 6, 2022 with graveside and burial following at Walker Memory Gardens. Bro J.J. Creel officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to New Temple Baptist Church, 4501 Greathouse Road, Dora, AL 35062.
