Mr.John Edward Jones , 73, of Florence, passed away Wednesday December 12, at ECM Hospital. Visitation will be 6pm until 8pm tonight at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11am Saturday in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Rev. Henry Melton and Rev. Tommy James officiating. Burial will follow in Tri Cities Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Jones was born in Lauderdale County and was a member of Faith Church. From 1972 until 1993, he owned and operated John’s Shop Ezy at 2614 Huntsville Rd., Florence.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred and Irene Jones; brother, Wayne Jones; sister, Marilyn Jones; and grandson, Colby McGee. He is survived by his wife, Martha Hargett Jones,; daughters, Panthea Hodges (Sonny), Renee’ Jones Hallmark, Michelle Jones, Jennifer Howard (Bill) and Ashley Claytor (Will); sister, Carolyn Taylor; grandchildren; Jeremy Doyle, Shane Hodges, Paisley Matthews, Jerica Hanback, Johnathon Hodges, Austin McGee, Madison Smoke, Trey Howard, Slayton Howard, Brennan Howard and Aniston Claytor; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Doyle, Mason Hanback, Paden Hodges, Ethan Doyle, Lyndon Matthews, Dalton Hanback, Canaan Matthews, Emma Hodges, Tucker Hodges, Holland Smoke and Cooper Hodges; and his faithful companion, Toby.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his special friend who he called his “angel”, Tom Bean. And also special thanks to Dr. Felix Morris and the 5th floor nursing staff at ECM Hospital for the care given to Mr. Jones.
