John Edward “Johnny” Snoddy, age 80, of Killen, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, September 3, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Spry Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Center Star Church. He will lie-in-state at the church from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Brother Stan Pruitt and Brother Curtis Schofield will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb Waddell, Matthew Caperton, Glenn Nuby, Stevie Corum, Bryant Pruitt, and Barron Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Terry and Marty Snoddy; parents, Archie and Mavis Snoddy; sisters, Lela Dison, Lucille Holden, and Bet Narmore; brothers, Billy Snoddy, Maples Snoddy, and Reeder Snoddy.
Survivors are his wife, Merle Snoddy; daughter, Tammy Waddell (Jeff); sister, Marie Oldham; grandchildren, Caleb Waddell, Cambrie Waddell, Andrea Caperton (Matthew), and Aaron Wharton; great-grandchildren, Olivia Caperton and Claire Caperton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Johnny was a retired pipefitter with Reynolds after 27 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and also a devoted Christian and Elder, always serving at his church, Center Star Church. To know him was to love him. He had a smile that was contagious no matter what he was going through.
