John Dunning departed this life on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the age of 76, years, 7 months, 14 days. He was born in Spalding, Nebraska on November 16, 1938, the son of the late Cyril Anthony and Deloris Bridget Sullivan Dunning. On July 12, 1974, he was united in marriage to Connie Johnson, who survives.
John was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Kroger as a grocery bagger and was retired from Aqua Glass. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He loved carpentry, chopping blocks and making bird houses.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Connie Dunning of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Christy Dunning and husband Danny, of Waynesboro, Tennessee, Janet Stanford and Bridget Dunning both of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Sterling Walker, Jessica Walker, Caleb Stanford, and Sarah Stanford; brothers, Fr. Jim Dunning of Mission Viejo, California, Dan Dunning and wife, Jackie of Springfield, Missouri, and Bob Dunning of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters, Joan Dunning of St. Catherine, Kentucky and Jean Ann Harrihill and husband, Jim of Greeley, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Thomas (Tommy) Dunning, Jr. and a brother, Maury Dunning.
