John D. Maness, 58, of Buchanan, Tennessee, born in Huntington, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025.
Born on September 30, 1966, in Huntington, Tennessee, John was known for his hardworking hands, as a gifted mechanic, John found joy in working on cars and trucks, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had a special passion for trading and fishing—pastimes that brought him peace and connection with others.
John was a former member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church and more recently attended Buchanan Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and faith.
He is survived by his loving family: sisters Fredia (Tim) Baker, Nancy (Randy) Roberts and Rita (Clint) DeYoung, daughters Jessica (Daniel) Underwood, Kayla (Jeremy) Dotson; grandchildren Logan Underwood, Laramie Underwood, Gabriel Underwood, Cheyenne Underwood, Heath Underwood, Lane Dotson, Hayden Dotson, and Jace Dotson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee Maness Jr. and Shirley Maness; his brothers Jerry Neal Maness and Randy Maness; his grandson Peyton Dotson; and many other dear loved ones who welcomed him home.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 PM, Friday, July 11th, at Corinth Baptist Cemetery in Darden, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 AM – 12:30 PM at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the engines we hear humming, and the quiet mornings by the water where he once cast his line.
