John Curtis Vaughn, born on January 10, 1963, in Memphis, TN, left this world peacefully on May 14, 2024, in Jackson, TN. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather whose presence brightened the lives of those around him.
John led a fulfilling life as the Facilities Director at Memphis Theological Seminary, where he dedicated many years to his work. His passion for learning more about God and the Bible was evident in everything he did. Before his time at the seminary, John honed his skills in construction and was known for his incredible ability to envision and develop spaces on his property.
In addition to his professional endeavors, John proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army, demonstrating his commitment to his country and fellow servicemen.
Among his many hobbies and interests, John found joy in watching TV shows like “The Big Bang Theory” and “Frasier.” He had a green thumb and delighted in tending to his yard and flower beds. Those close to him knew that keeping his wife, Elizabeth, on her toes brought him immense happiness. In his younger years, he found solace in hunting and fishing, relishing the beauty of nature.
Above all, John’s proudest accomplishments were his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Kimberly Elizabeth Robinson (Nick); and grandsons, Matthew Curtis Rush and Michael Thomas Robinson. His grandsons were truly the light of his eyes. They affectionately called him “Pop,” a title he wore with great honor. He also leaves behind his sister, Tina Louise Taylor; nephew, Carl Curtis Taylor; and canine pal, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Millard Vaughn and Rose Bud O’Brian Vaughn and his brother, Timothy Earl Vaughn.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bartlett, TN.
