  John Crawford Elliott Profile PhotoJohn Crawford Elliott, age 71 of Alexander City formerly of Double Springs, Alabama, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

 He was born December 20, 1952 to Frank James and Iladeen Elliott. John was an educator and coach for many years: Monroe Academy, Carbon Hill High School, John Carroll High School, and Benjamin Russell High School. Winning a football state championship with Benjamin Russell High School in 2001. John was a member of the Jacksonville State University Football team in 1971. He was inducted into the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame in 1999.

John attended Wayside Baptist Church in Alexander City for 25 years and was a member of Double Springs Church of Christ. He loved restoring antique cars, coin collecting, farming, and genealogy. John loved to travel and camp with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking projects and was a published author.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 3:00p.m at Shady Grove Cemetery in Double Springs, Alabama. Pastor Will Baker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Blake Berry, Brayden McCarley, Dustin Cagle, Jacob Watters, Jordan Watters and Will Swann. Honorary pallbearers will be Carter Swann and Cy Swann.

John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marla Elliott; daughter, Anna Rachel Elliott; sisters, Barbara Carol Watters and Betty Jane Nelson; and aunt, Genease Beasley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank James and Iladeen Elliott.
