John Cleveland Livingston, of Hanceville, Alabama, passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 87. Mr. Livingston was born July 5, 1936, in Lawrence County, Alabama, to Paul Steven and Alma Birdie Jacobs Livingston.
Mr. Livingston was a logger by trade. He was a member of Livingston Tabernacle Church in Hanceville, Alabama. John was talented and his love of bluegrass and country music led him to both play and sing. He passed his skills along to his grandson and taught him to play as well. John enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife before she passed away. He was a devoted husband and father, and he loved his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. Mr. Livingston will be missed greatly by many.
John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice Campbell Livingston; sister, Pauline Williams; son-in-law, Roman Winfrey; and brothers-in-law, Paul Hudson, James Smith, and Wayne Williams.
Those surviving Mr. Livingston are his daughters, Pamela Gaddy (Ricky), Janet Winfrey, Brenda McArthur (David); sisters, Effie Lee Hudson, Penny Ann Viot (Peter), Carolyn Smith; grandchildren, John David Gaddy (Brandy), Jana Kay Winfrey, Leah Shay Winfrey, Sheila Marie Evans (Don); great-grandchildren, Marshall Dillon Gaddy, Dessie Musgrove, Lexi McAlpine, Blaze, Pheonix, Zander, Grayson; and great-great-grandson, Waylen Cash.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation at Livingston Tabernacle Church on Saturday evening, November 18, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Sunday, November 19, 2023, beginning at 1 p.m., with Jason Williams and David Marler officiating. Mr. Livingston will lie-in-state an hour prior to services. Burial will follow services in the adjoining cemetery.
