John Charles Bates, 74, of Dyersburg passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at his residence. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 PM Thursday evening at Garner Funeral Home in Ripley. Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday at Garner Funeral Home with burial to follow in Edith Cemetery.
Mr. Bates, a retired mechanic, was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran.
The husband of Lisa Bates, he is survived by a daughter Ashley Bates of Alamo; 2 sons John Bates of Halls and Michael Bates of Ripley; 2 sisters Betty Blakely and Ann Neal both of Ripley; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Opal Bates; sisters Louise Hammock and Jenelle Kellum; and brothers Earl Bates and James Bates.
