John C. McBride Jr., a devoted husband, cherished father, and beloved grandfather, passed away peacefully in Orange Beach, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family. John was preceded in death by his treasured wife of 65 years, Nan.

A Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, John served his country with honor and distinction. His dedication extended far beyond his military service, as he came to Huntsville in 1965 to teach at the Ordnance Guided Missile School and further technological advancements with Lockheed Martin. His love for technology and knack for understanding intricate components fueled his lifelong passion. His electronic designs, implemented for the Military and NASA, remain integral worldwide and will continue to be used by future generations. A true visionary, John’s impact on electronic design is immeasurable.

In his kind and quiet demeanor, he effortlessly impacted countless souls, weaving connections through breakfast and lunch groups, his service as an elder and devout member of the First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville, and his involvement with the Kiwanis and the Junior Chamber of Congress, enriching lives far beyond measure.

John’s legacy lives on through his three children, John McBride (Paula), Michael McBride (Marion), and Shannon Kimble (Todd); his memory will be forever treasured by his three grandchildren, Briana Brackett, Victoria Brackett, and John Parvin McBride.

John’s life overflowed with accomplishments, yet he always placed being a devoted family man at the forefront. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, his greatest achievement. His unwavering devotion to his wife Nan shines through the stories he shared of their cherished moments together – their unforgettable meeting, first date soaring the skies in his plane, and exploration of the world hand in hand. His love for his family will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

John will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to the Chicago Cubs, his service to his country, and his invaluable contributions to technological progress. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, innovation, and love that will continue to inspire generations to come. May John’s soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Maple Hill Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Tara Bulger officiating.
