John “Brock” Brockwell

John Brockwell John “Brock” Brockwell, 84, of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, and formerly of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 24, 2024.

John was born and raised in Prince George, Virginia.  He was the youngest of three children born to Morton Vest Brockwell and Virgie Emory Brockwell.  After graduating from Prince George High School, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves and joined the workforce at Hercules, Inc., in Hopewell, Virginia (retired 2000).  John married Jean Mae Black in 1962 and they were blessed with two children, born in 1966 and 1977.

John’s life was devoted to God and his family.  His selfless love was extended to his wife of 62 years, as well as his daughters, and grandchildren.  John was active in his church, serving as a deacon for many years.  He enjoyed spending quality time with his family.  John was an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing and music.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Morton and Virgie Brockwell, his brother, Lawrence, and his sister, Mary Frances.  He is survived by his wife, Jean Black Brockwell, and children: Amy Brockwell King of Greenville, SC, and Jennifer Brockwell Bonner (Preston) of Owens Cross Roads, AL.  John is also survived by his grandchildren: Victoria Lane King of Owens Cross Roads, AL, Matthew Reamy King (McKenzie) of Chattanooga, TN, and Logan Allen Bonner of Owens Cross Roads, AL.

John’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of South Hampton Nursing Center in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, for their care-giving over the past two years.
