It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Anthony “Tony” Brawner, who was reunited with his beloved wife and daughter in his Heavenly home on November 4, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Tony was a man of unwavering faith, a beacon of positivity, and an embodiment of love and selflessness.
Born to the late Raymond Howell Brawner and Dorothy Mae Cooper, Tony’s life was marked by resilience and grace in the face of adversity. His enduring faith has been a source of strength, guiding him through life’s challenges with steadfast kindness.
Family meant everything to Tony, and he loved with a devotion that knew no bounds. He wasn’t just a grandfather to his own grandchildren; he extended his love and wisdom as a father and grandfather figure to countless others in his life. Tony’s generosity knew no bounds, as he would give, even when he had nothing left to give. His love was a constant wellspring of support and encouragement, serving as a mentor to many who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tony’s deep love for his wife, Jane, was unparalleled, he never sought the company of another. He invested his time and energy into everyone else. Their love was a testament to commitment and devotion, setting an example for all who witnessed their bond. Tony carried on his daughter’s memory through sowing Sunflower fields, which he referred to as Amy’s Garden. He maintained her garden until he returned to her.
Tony’s personality was larger than life, filled with infectious enthusiasm and an unquenchable thirst for life. He had a wide range of interests, from antique and classic cars to annual visits to the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge and the joy of antiquing, or as he fondly called it, “pickin’.” He was a master of the art of negotiation, always on the hunt for that perfect deal.
Tony’s sense of humor was legendary, with a mischievous grin that could light up a room. His witty remarks were a source of endless laughter and warmth, making every gathering a memorable occasion.
Throughout his life, Tony gave his time and energy to those less fortunate in his ministry. He traveled to many countries to build homes and share God’s Love. He was a dedicated board member for the Mountain T.O.P. service project, which is the Middle Tennessee Outreach Program. Through this organization, he worked tirelessly to change the lives of children in need, leaving an indelible mark on his community.
In his passing, we remember John Anthony “Tony” Brawner as a man of profound faith, boundless love, and an enduring legacy of kindness and generosity.
