Joey Ray Steele Sr, age 67 of Cowan, TN passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Joey was born on April 18, 1957, in Cowan to the late Eli Shadrick and Mary Helen (Sells) Steele. He retired after many years of service with Diversatech. Joey enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables in his garden and being at the cabin with his family and friends. He was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. Joey will be remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather and companion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Ricky Steele and Timmy Steele. Joey is survived by his sons, Joey (Elaine) Steele Jr. and Justin (Lauren) Steele; companion of over twenty years, Kathy Stephens and her children, Lori (Joseph) Beckett and Martin (Shannon) Stephens; grandchildren, Christian Steele, Daniel Steele, Laura Steele, Sarah Pennington, Devin Steele, Rylee Steele, Logan Steele, Brayden Smith, Kahlan Forest, Kenzie Beckett and Maddie Beckett; sisters, Teresa Matthews and Rita Gipson; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 12:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
