Joe Thomas Kelley, Jr., 74, Certified Public Accountant and resident of Cross Bridges Road, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jason Caddy and Dr. Rufus Clifford officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born May 4, 1945 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Joe Thomas Kelley and the late Dorothy Cole Kelley. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Accounting. In 1971, he earned Tennessee Certificate of Certified Public Accountant and ran Joe T. Kelley CPA P.C. from 1981 to present. Mr. Kelley was a lifetime member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, past President of the Maury County Chamber of Commerce, past President of The Noon Rotary Club and was a recipient of Paul Harris Fellow.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married December 13, 1964, Martha Meek Kelley of Columbia; children, Beth K. Hamilton of Columbia; Dr. Joe T. (Melissa) Kelley, III of Sarasota, Florida; Amy K. Kelley of Brentwood; Daniel W. (Tara) Kelley of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Nancy Grooms of Columbia; grandchildren, Cash Hamilton, Joe Kelley, IV, Elise Kelley, Michael Forshee, Emma Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. James B. Kelley.
Active pallbearers will be Don Steely, Stephen Walker, Bill Miles, Dalton Mounger, Moore Landers, and Mike Greene.
