Joe T. Jett, 90, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024. Born Sept 10, 1933, Joe grew up in Florence, Alabama attending Gilbert Grammar School and Coffee High School.

He is survived by nieces Freda (Ron) Allan and Marsha (Tim) Lassen; cousins Diane Gregg and Al Dowdy; great niece and nephews Chris (Laura) Lassen, Craig Lassen, James Allan, and Kasey Lassen.

Joe served in the US Army from 1952-1955 stationed in Germany.
He utilized the GI Bill to attend the University of Alabama in 1957, graduating in 1961 with a BS degree in Industrial Engineering Management. Joe treasured his time at the University of Alabama and was a staunch supporter for the remainder of his life. He loved and lived for his Bama football and was a season ticket holder for over 50 years.

After graduation, Joe worked for Boeing Airlines before beginning a career with IBM in 1966. One of the highlights of his career was working on the Apollo 4 mission as a liaison with NASA for IBM. He taught worldwide for IBM, retiring with 26 years of service as a Senior Industrial Engineer in 1992.

Joe was a 32-degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Huntsville for 53 years, member of the Loyd O. Glenn F&A M Lodge of Moulton for over 68 years. He was an original charter member of the Cahaba Shrine Temple in Huntsville. He was also in the American Legion and VFW for over 20 years.

A confirmed bachelor, Joe was a loving and supportive son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. His quick wit and sense of humor entertained and kept those around him on their toes. He will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at Greenview Memorial Chapel on Old Chisholm Rd in Florence, Alabama on Tuesday, May 7th, visitation beginning at 12 noon and funeral services at 1 pm, with burial immediately following.
