Joe Ray Partin, age 72 of Winchester, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 7, 2020 at his residence. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on July 28, 1948 to the late Pete Partin and the late Nellie Gillespie McGriff. Joe’s favorite past time was fishing, and his family is sure he is sitting on Heaven’s banks fishing with his late wife, Sue, and son, Allen Ray. Only Joe’s friends and family were allowed to call him “Joe Ray.” To all others, he was simply Joe. Joe never met a stranger, if he did, he was quick to extend his hand and introduce himself. An avid animal lover, he always took in any animal that needed help, and they loved him as much as he loved them. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Sue V. Partin; son, Allen Ray Partin; brothers, William Buddy Partin, Alfred Partin, Robert Sonny Partin, and Jackie Partin; sisters, Dorothy “Sissy” Partin Sweeton; and step-father, James Curg McGriff. He is survived by his sons, Joey (Tammy) Partin of Belvidere, and Josh Partin of Winchester; brother, Douglas (Annie) Partin of Winchester; sisters, Bobbie Barnes of Decherd; Bonnie (Jeff) Havner of Sewanee, and Martha Davis of Winchester; grandchildren, Lacey Powers, Amanda Ingle, Shaela Partin, Shawn Partin, Dillion Tipton, Brittany Allen, Fallon Partin, and Trae Clark; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Jim Hill; and pets, Baby and Susie. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Monday, August 10, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Rudy Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt Garner Cemetery. Sweet, Joe, your family and friends will miss you dearly; you left us way too early.
