Joe P. Hill “Papa Joe”, age 82 of Jacksonville, passed away on September 3, 2024, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman L. Hill and Jewel M. Hill; son-in-law, Bruce Maples; brother, Billy L. Hill (Zonna); sister, Lillie M. Pharr; and a great grandchild.
Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Hill; children, Angie Maples, Ramona Hill (Bob Cuffe) and Richard Agnew (Crystal Agnew); sister, Jewel D. Branson (Edwin Branson); brother-in-law, Eugene Pharr; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Mr. Hill was a veteran of the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed riding horses and riding his mule. He lit up any room that he walked into and had a way of making people laugh. Joe will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
A private service will be held with the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
