Joe Murrell Vineyard, age 82 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on July 7, 1937 to the late Hugh Murrell and Ollie Mae (Hewgley) Vineyard. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty-two years of service. A devoted member of Vernon Ridge Baptist Church, he loved his church and church family, as well as spending time studying the Bible. An avid Alabama fan, Joe enjoyed watching westerns, but most of all he cherished the time spent with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature and for always being a man of his word. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Vineyard; brother, Jack W. Vineyard; and sister, Linda L. Vanzant. He is survived by his loving children, Susan Anderson and John Vineyard, both of Winchester; grandchildren, Josh (Sarah) Anderson Adam Derryberry, and Amy Derryberry; great-grandchildren, Jacob Anderson, Matthew Anderson, and Bella Derryberry; brother, James (Melinda) Vineyard of Winchester; and sister, Laura Mae Johnson of Winchester.
