Joe Morris “Bobby Joe” McKennon, age 87, passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee Monday, August 15, 2022. Bobby Joe was born October 29, 1934, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Edwin C. McKennon and Easter Kennedy McKennon.
Bobby Joe first and foremost was a family man. He loved his family more than anything and everything that he did was to provide for them and for the betterment of their lives. He was a hard worker and passed that quality down to his children and grandchildren. He worked for several decades with the railroad, in railroad maintenance. He was the one to thank for putting derailed trains back on the tracks and keeping shipping times on schedule. When Bobby Joe was home, he loved to go hunting, for most everything, but Coon hunting was his favorite pass time. He also enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors. He raised horses for several years, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. They were his greatest pride and joy. Bobby Joe is loved and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Bobby Joe is survived by his sons: Joe (Rhonda Shadix) McKennon II and Edwin (Angela) McKennon; grandchildren: Peyton McKennon, Joseph McKennon, Allison McKennon, and Ethan McKennon; and four great-grandchildren; and special friends: Timothy “T.T.” (David) Taylor and Kayley “K.K.” Shadix. Bobby Joe is preceded in death by his wife Winnie Thomas McKennon and siblings: Cecil Willie McKennon, Margaret Hanvy, Dorothy Mangrum, Betty Pugh, Wilma Jones, Katherine Onita Bridges, and Nell Glass.
