Dr. Joe Mark Anderson passed away on October 7, 2024.

Mark was born and raised near Peete’s Corner in south Limestone County surrounded by his beloved red clay cotton fields and his family.  He graduated from Athens High School in 1968 and then graduated from the University of Alabama where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.  He also graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law and was a member of the Alabama State Bar.  After practicing law for a few years, he was a long-time professor of business law at Athens State University and took sabbaticals in Egypt and Guatemala, He also taught a semester in mainland China.

Mark lived on the bluffs of the Elk River in Rogersville with the love of his life, Kimi, and his cat, Lucky.  He enjoyed retirement and filled his life with reading, traveling, gardening and attending Alabama and Vanderbilt sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Anita Anderson and his grandparents, Joe and Kathryn Anderson and Mahlon and Martha Christopher.  He is survived by his wife, Kimberlee English Anderson; brother, John (Jeanne) Anderson; daughters, Shea (Shane) Andrews and Alexandria (Brandon Hootman) Taylor; nephew, Joe (Symphony) Anderson; niece, Katie (Britt) Walker; grandchildren, Woodson Andrews, Kayden Andrews, Beauxman Andrews and Allee Reese Hootman; and great nieces and great nephew.

There will be a memorial service for Mark at Rogersville Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Russel Hill Cancer Center, 3601 CCI Drive, NW, Huntsville, Alabama 35805.
