Joe Lambert, 89, of Athens, AL, passed away Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, at his home. He was born March 25th, 1935, in Limestone County, Alabama, to Benjamin and Clara (Lindzy) Lambert.
He is survived by his daughters Cindy Andrews (Buddy), Suzanne Carter (Philip), and Kim Walker (Gary); grandchildren Clara Andrews, Jessie Andrews, Blake Carter, Lindzy Callaway (Blake), and Katherine Walker Cook (Josh); and great-grandchild Carter Leigh Callaway.
Mr. Lambert is preceded by his parents Benjamin and Clara Lambert; brother J.L. Lambert; sister Geneva Tennison; and wife Evelyn Kirby Lambert.
Joe was a helicopter mechanic in the United States Air Force. He then joined NASA where he assisted on projects from the Mercury rockets all the way to the space shuttle until his retirement. He loved his family, enjoyed being on the Elk River, enjoyed woodworking, fast cars and motorcycles, and loved traveling the country with his wife, Evelyn.
