Joe Edward Cayson, 90, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at The Meadows in Fulton after a lengthy illness. He was born June 21, 1924, to Chester Pearce Cayson and Lou Ethel Sheffield Cayson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard, and growing a vegetable garden to feed many. He was a member of East Fulton Baptist Church. He was in construction work and retired from B&B Concrete, Inc. in Tupelo. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Grover Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Dorsey Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Carrie Mae Cayson, of Fulton; two daughters, Martha Weatherford (Tommy) and Patti Jo Hannon (Jim), both of Fulton; two sons, Gary Cayson (Becky) of Fulton and Michael Cayson (Kathryn) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Duane Cayson (Melissa)and Kaysie Beard (Brad), both of Fulton, and Emily Cayson of Tupelo; four great-grandchildren, Clay Cayson, Cody Cayson, Cayson Beard, and Braley Jo Beard, all of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Shirley Cayson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandchild; two sisters, Mildred Fasig (Hank) and Faye Wheeler (John); one brother, John Trice Cayson; and a son-in-law, B.B. McElroy.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Thorn, Harold Martin, Jerry Summers, Rusty Loden, Chad Martin, and Pat Comer.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Poole, J.D. Moore, Stacy Russell, and members of the Peaceful Valley Hunting Club.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the funeral home.
