Mr. Joe Edgar Aughinbaugh Jr., age 85, passed away Tuesday July 5, 2022 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, surrounded by his family, from an extended illness. Joe was born on May 12, 1937, in Warren County, to the late Joe Edgar Aughinbaugh Sr. and Thelma Rebecca Wiser Aughinbaugh. Joe was a graduate of McMinnville City High School where he excelled in football. He was a retired Quality Control Technician with Nissan and a faithful Christian who celebrated his faith at Freedom Life Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years Shirley Ragland Aughinbaugh, three sisters: Mary Francis Hayes, Barbara Calvert, and Dorothy Green.
Joe is survived by his loving family, sons; Brian Aughinbaugh and Brent (Amy) Aughinbaugh, grandchildren; Ryan (Christy) Aughinbaugh, Justin Aughinbaugh, Carigan Aughinbaugh, Sabastian Aughinbaugh, and Malachi Aughinbaugh. Great-grandchildren; Peyton Aughinbaugh and Eli King.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 8, 2022 at 2:00pm at Freedom Life Church, in McMinnville. Burial will follow in Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation times are Thursday July 7th 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Layne Funeral Home in Spencer and at the church Friday July 9th 10:00am till time of service.
