Joe Eddie Pollock – Obituary

Joe Eddie Pollock, 83, of Huntsville, passed away Friday. Born in Hohenwald, TN, Mr. Pollock graduated from Lewis County High School and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force to serve in the Korean War. Upon his return, he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in mathematics. From there Mr. Pollock moved to Huntsville, AL where he worked at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center for 30 years until his retirement as a Manager of MSFC’s Institutional Support Organization.

Mr. Pollock was an avid outdoorsman and expressed this passion through his farm, cattle, gardening and bird watching. He shared his love for the outdoors with his two boys through Boy Scouts of America and many experiences of camping, hunting and fishing. Mr. Pollock gained great pleasure from his grandchildren and was never shy about telling tales of them showing cattle and chickens in 4-H, fishing, hunting, and playing sports.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Dodson Pollock, parents, Percy Pennington Pollock and Jessie Mae Couch Pollack, sisters, Mildred Sizemore, Marguerite Pollock, Roma Turnbow and brother, James W. Pollock.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rebecca Jane Robnett Pollock; two sons, Brian K. Pollock and wife, Kelli, of Huntsville, AL and Philip E. Pollock and wife, Dana, of Taft, TN; four grandchildren, Abigayle and Ella Pollock of Taft, TN and Benjamin and Carter Pollock of Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Sue Beatty of Hohenwald, TN and Betty Faye McClain of Mt. Pleasant, TN.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with the Rev. Eric Kohler officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 in Swiss Cemetery in Hohenwald, TN with the Rev. Drew Brewer officiating.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln County, TN 4-H or Boy Scouts of America – Greater Alabama Council.
