Joe Edd Reyer, Sr. , 80, of N. Wales Rd., Elkmont, AL died at home Sunday morning, September 20, 2020.
Viewing will be Friday evening, Sept. 25, 5-7 pm at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be Graveside on Saturday morning, Sept 26th, at 10 am at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore. Bro. Amos Conley will officiate.
Joe was born Decemer 26, 1939 in Ardmore, TN to Orville Deemer Reyer and Gladys Nora Hobbs Reyer. He eventually settled in Michigan where he began working as an electrician for Ford Motor Company. While there, Joe was elected several times to positions in the U.A.W., ultimately serving as Skilled Trades Chairperson, SubCouncil. This led to him traveling our great nation negotiating employee contracts for better pay, healthcare, workers safety,
and equal advancement opportunities for all. He proudly retired after 33 years and returned to Ardmore in 2000.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Nichols Reyer; his parents; his brothers, John Wilburn Reyer and Robert Reyer; and oldest grandchild, Clara Matthews.
Survivors include: sons, Joseph Anthony Reyer of Elkmont, Al and Joe Edd Reyer, Jr. of Ardmore, AL; daughters, Melissia Lynn Garza of Athens, AL, Barbara Ann Schuby of St. Claire Shores, MI, and June Dawn Carrillo of Garden City, MI; sister, Nora Jane Hunt of Ardmore, TN; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was a blessing from God and he will be missed.
