Joe Reed Profile Photo Joe Dan Reed, a beloved figure in the lives of many, was born on November 13, 1933, in Corinth, Mississippi. He passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, in New Albany, Mississippi, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of joy that will be celebrated by family and friends.

Mr. Joe legally blind from birth; owned and operated the cafeteria and vending services at Futorian/Stratford for over 35 years. He enjoyed listening and playing country and gospel music. He loved to listen to sports on the radio, especially the Atlanta Braves. He loved to travel covering most of the United States and several foreign countries. But he loved nothing more than to sit around and talk with family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted son and daughter-in-law Mike and Penny Reed, his dear sister, Earlene Coltharp, who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter. He is also remembered fondly by his nephew, Billy Veal; nieces, Debbie Johnson and Ann Reed Garrich. Each of them holds dear memories of Joe that will continue to inspire and uplift them for years to come.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years Patricia (Pat) Reed, parents Cletus and Dora Reed, his brother Boyce Reed, sister Lavern Veal, nephew Dan Reed, nieces Judy Wine and Sheila Allen.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on December 29, 2024, at Glenfield Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Veal, Bill Pollard, Rodger Clayton, Bo Coleman, Kenny Sheffield and David Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mississippi Men.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Mr. Joe Reed request memorials to be made to the Tupelo Humane Society.

Glenfield Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements of Mr. Joe Reed.
