Joe Charles Killingsworth, age 84 of Carbon Hill, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his residence.
Joe Killingsworth served in the United States Air Force in Fire, Rescue & Retrieve at the end of the Korean War. He was a member of the United States Ironworkers Association. Mr. Killingsworth was a welder in iron working and construction, even working on the Sears tower in Chicago, IL. More locally Joe Killingsworth served the City of Carbon Hill for 17 years on the Carbon Hill City Council. Mr. Killingsworth was a devoted husband and family man of four children of his own, but had a strong hand in raising many others as well. Mr. Killingsworth was a beloved hard working man for family and community service as long as he was able.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m until at 8:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home and Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Southside Church of God. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Church of God, with burial at McDade Cemetery. William Michael Jenkins will officiate.
Mr. Killingsworth was preceded in death by his Brothers-Thomas Earl Killingsworth, George Rudolph Killingsworth, Walter Howard Killingsworth, Carl Wayne Killingsworth; Son-Jerry Dean Killingsworth; Father-Howard Killingsworth; Mother-Georga Viola Killingsworth.
He is survived by his Wife-Pat Killingsworth of Carbon Hill; Daughters-Cindy Killingsworth Henderson and Lynn Killingsworth; Son-Charles Keith Killingsworth; Brother-Norman Doyle Killingsworth; 7 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
