Joe Billy Pierce, 87, of Madison County, passed away on January 21, 2025. Born on July 9, 1937, he was the son of the late James Lafayette and Emma Mae Pierce.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Lee Jeans in Fayetteville.  Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether working on jigsaw puzzles, spending time in his shop, tending to his garden, or enjoying his farm and cattle. Above all, he cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Pierce; his children, Tony (Peggy) Pierce, Lynn Bice, and Bob (Rachael) Pierce; grandchildren, Joey (Julie) Pierce, Jessica (Rex) Whitfield, Selena (Will) Scoggins, Parker Pierce, Shannon White, Sara Bice,  Abbey Pierce, and Grace (Nathan Lopresti) Bice; and great-grandchildren, Pierce Riley, Avery Pierce, Ellie Pierce, and Luke Pierce. He is also survived by his brother Ray (Nancy) Pierce, sister Gail (Mike) Keisling, and sister-in-law Wynelle Pierce.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, James Howard Pierce.

The family will receive friends at Hazel Green Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Mike McFarlan. Interment will take place at Charity Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Pierce, Bob Pierce, Joey Pierce, Parker Pierce, Pierce Riley, and Nathan Lopresti. Honorary pallbearer will be Luke Pierce.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
