Joe Aaron Fleming, also fondly known as Lil Joe, was a 4th generation Huntsvillian, died in the early morning on July 23rd, 2020 surrounded by his family. Joe fought a hard battle with Leukemia for 5 years. He was very grateful for the excellent care provided to him by Dr. Marshall Schreeder and his CCI Staff and Dr. Jack Moody and Staff.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bebe Fleming and his sister, Camille Fleming Vaughan. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Diane Davis Fleming; daughter, Anna Fleming Flesch (Tracy); son, Samuel Fleming (Leslie) Granddaughters, Sydney Flesch, Katie Ann Flesch, Merril Elizabeth Fleming, and Katharine Kolbe Fleming. Joe is also survived by sister, Della Fleming Park (Tom); brother, Louis Fleming (Mary Jane) and many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joe graduated from Huntsville High School with the Class of 1959 and from Auburn University, class of 1964 and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. In 1982, Joe earned a MABS from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Joe was President of Fleming Construction for over 50 years. He loved playing tennis for many years and developed many wonderful friends playing the sport. Boating in Lake Guntersville and trips to the beach with his family were very dear to him. He enjoyed spending time with his Granddaughters of whom he was so proud of.
Joe was involved in many community boards. He donated The Depot to Calvary Bible Church for the youth to meet and also at one point was an Elder in the Church. Joe loved the Lord with all of his heart.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 9:00 am with Pastor Jimmy Williams officiating. A Reception will be held at Athletic Club Alabama on Leeman Ferry Drive following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Bible Church, Dallas Theological Seminary, the Russell Hill Cancer Foundation or charity of your choice.
