Jody Glenn White, 65, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on January 31, 1957 in Brownville, TN to Lee Bazzle and Virgie Lee Threadgill White, but he grew up in Gattman and attended Greenwood Springs school. On November 18, 1996, he married Sherry West and has lived in the Athens Community for many years. He had worked in the garment industry and was also a carpenter and a mechanic. He was handy and considered a jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything that was broken. He liked to swim and go fishing, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Lansdell officiating. Burial will follow in the Wren Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Sherry White, he is survived by four sons, Timothy White, Amory, Joey White, Amory, Aaron West, Amory, and Jonathan Humbers, Sulligent; one daughter, Ashley Brown (Tim), Bigbee; 5 sisters, Clytee Wynne (Tom), TN, Ruby Boman (Jack), Vernon, AL, Alcie Whittington, Fayette, AL, Dena Ward, Sulligent, and Melanie Smith, Smithville; 21 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Roland Merrell (Janie), Shannon, Kenneth West (Rita), Aberdeen, and Keith West (Nancy), Bigbee; sister-in-law, Brenda Holloway Guyton, Amory; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Billy Ray White; son, Joshua White; mother and father-in-law, Helen Davis West Patton and Harvey Trynton West; and step father-in-law, Bobby Patton.
Pallbearers will be James Holloway, Michael Holloway, Caleb West, Timmy White, Floyd Shields, and Steven Young. Austin Young will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
