Obituary of Joann Garmany PutnamJoann Garmany Putnam, age 85, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home will direct. She will be laid to rest at Forrest Cemetery.

Joann was born in Anniston, AL on July 30, 1938. She attended high school in Anniston and then married Larry Putnam on March 9, 1957. They had two daughters, Holly and Valenda and lived in a variety of states from Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa, South Carolina and Texas due to Larry’s job with General Electric. Joann loved to drive around the country and chose work as a rental car transportation driver for that purpose before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. Putnam; daughter, Valenda Putnam Bright; parents, John and Rosa Garmany; brothers, John Philbert Garmany, Alfred Garmany and Donald Garmany and sister, Celia Crawford.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Holly Putnam Rose, Morgantown, WV; granddaughters, Misty Exley, Jacksonville, FL, Sabrina Tossone, Jacksonville, FL and Avery Anjard, Morgantown, WV; grandson, David Bolinger, Jacksonville, FL; two great grandchildren, Hanny Exley, Jackonsville and Donny Stables, Jacksonville; and three great great grandsons, Kamari Goodman, Kameron Goodman and Donny Stables.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Mindy Doctor, director of of Lauren Oaks Assisted Living (Jacksonville, FL). Joann was the first resident of the Assisted Living Facility eleven years ago. Mindy took very good care of my mother; basically becoming a surrogate daughter to her during the past eleven years

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
