JoAnn Byram Monroe, 82, passed away September 29, 2017, at her residence in Dennis. She was born November 26, 1934, to Audie Clovis Byram and Lillian Lala Lindsey Byram. She married the love of her life, Charles Edgar Monroe on December 13, 1952. She graduated from Tishomingo High School in May of 1953, while her husband was in basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage. She was a beautician, a florist, loved to travel and loved her family. She was a member of Golden Central Baptist Church.
Services will be Sunday, October 1, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Jerry Ginn and Mike Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Edgar Monroe of Dennis; two brothers-Jim Byram (Edna) of Golden and John Benton Byram (Carol) of Columbia, MS; three sons-David Monroe (Linda) of Killen, AL, Jeff Monroe (Ellen) of Florence, AL and Scotty Monroe (Susan) of Golden, MS; one daughter-Tammy Monroe Wood (David) of Dennis, MS; twelve grandchildren-Elise Monroe Speegle (Randolph) and Christopher Monroe both of Killen, AL, Nicole Monroe Mason (Jonathan) of Rogersville, AL, Michael Monroe (Holly) of Athens, AL, Candi Monroe Upton (Matt) of Florence, AL, Chondra Monroe Russell (Lee) and Monica Monroe McDonald (Eric) of Belmont, MS, Hayden Monroe (Kaitlyn) of Baldwyn, MS, Cassie Monroe of Golden, MS, Roman Wood (Maria) of Morris, IL, Dustin Wood (Ali) of New Albany, MS and Hunter Wood of Myrtle, MS; eleven great-grandchildren-Christian and Haley Speegle, Ashlyn Mason, Mallory and Natalie Monroe, Aubrey, Trey and Easton Russell, Brynleigh and Mallie McDonald and Rubyann Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 30, from 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
