Joan Webb Martin, 78, of Florence died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Florence Nursing and Rehab Center.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016, 2 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church. Family will receive friends in the Parish Hall from 12-2 PM. Fr. Andy Keyse will be officiating. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Sheffield High School and Florence State College, where she was a member of the original Lionette team. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church Choir for 30 years. She loved performing in summer music theater plays, Chamber Choir, Muscle Shoals District Service League and Follies, Zodiac Theater, Mother Singers, Florence Music Study Club. She was a volunteer with Maud Lindsey Free Kindergarten, Cherry Hill Homes Kindergarten, and Hope Haven School. She was a well regarded employee of Parisian for more than 10 years.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her grandson, Mills Sproull.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of 58 years, John D. “Jack” Martin; daughters, Joy Sproull (Miller) and Jill Lunsford (Walter); son, Jay Martin (Susie); grandchildren, Tyler (Amy) Martin, McKenzie Martin, Wimberly Sproull, Sparks Sproull, Holly Sproull, Noah Lunsford, and Ryan Lunsford.
