Joan Huggins Brewer, age 80, of Mt. Pleasant, and widow of Bill Brewer, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Joan was born on August 21, 1935 in Lewis County, Tennessee to Desmond Huggins and Pauline Pennington Huggins. She worked for several years at State Beauty Supply. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed planting and gardening. Three of her other favorite things were traveling, extended shopping trips and going out to eat.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by her children: Terry (Shawn) Brewer of Mt. Pleasant, Paula Potts of Columbia and Tim (Beth) Brewer of Columbia; grandchildren: Haley (Josh) Seiber, Trevor (Casey) Brewer, Tyler (Blair) Brewer, Jonathon Potts, Brennan Willingham and Holly Ann Brewer; great-grandchildren: Carley Pugh, Hayden Pugh, Jaelynn Seiber, Kylie Brewer, Camryn Brewer and Journey Brewer; sister: Agnes Holden of Michigan and sisters-in-law: Mary Sue Hooper and Joan D. Brewer. In addition to her husband, Bill Brewer, she was preceded in death by her parents: Desmond and Pauline Pennington Huggins; brothers: Alfred Huggins and Thomas Huggins; and sisters: Mary Helen Garrett, Ruby Belew and Ruth Craig.
A memorial service for Mrs. Brewer will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Freewill Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Sheriff Bucky Rowland officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU doctors and nurses at Maury Regional Medical Center, Emergency Room staff at Maury Regional Medical Center, Sheila Hooper and the other stylists at Tricia’s, Sara Bumpas, Peggy Tillery, Nita Bobo, Joan Balitsky, Sheriff Bucky Rowland, Chief Deputy Ray Jeter and employees of the Maury County Sheriff’s Department.
