Joan-Presley-1456146526Joan Hampton Presley, 67, passed away on February 20, 2016 after a difficult, but brief, battle with cancer and entered eternal life with Jesus Christ, her Redeemer, Lord and Savior.
Joan was born in 1948 in Decatur County, TN to Wade and Wilma Hampton. She grew up, along with one brother, in a warm and gregarious family where she learned the essence of welcoming and hosting others. Joan received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Memphis and worked for most of her career in the insurance industry in Chattanooga as a systems analyst. Gifted with intelligence and quick thinking, she identified and solved problems of great difficulty throughout her professional career.
Joan’s energy and enthusiasm for life were most often focused on those she loved, including her beloved family and her church family at the East Ridge Church of Christ where she was a devoted member. One of her true enjoyments and talents was the art of celebrating with, and for, those she loved. Motivated by love and joy, she blended innumerable talents to envision and create moments of celebration – both small and large – for those in her life. In doing so, she gifted her loved ones with the memories of many precious moments.
Joan was a loving, thoughtful, and compassionate wife to her husband, Gerald Presley, and an affectionate, kind, and graceful mother. Joan lived with generosity of spirit and was an ever-steady source of strength to her family. She is remembered in love by her husband, Gerald Presley; son, Brent Presley and wife Jaime Presley, granddaughters, Annalise and Keira; daughter, Holly Presley; her mother, Wilma Hampton; and brother, Joe Hampton.
