Jo Ann Thomas – Obituary

Jo Ann Thomas, 78, of Killen went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Elkins East Chapel from 6-9 PM.  Funeral services will be at 2 PM Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Elkins East Chapel with Bro. Bill Lyons and Bro. Tim Grigsby officiating.  Burial will be at North Carolina Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was best known as Mamma Jo Jo.  She was a member of Center Star Church of Christ.  She was a beautiful loving Christian mother and wife.  She loved her husband, daughters, and grandchildren with all her heart.  She loved the Alabama Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves.

Mamma Jo Jo was preceded in death by her husband Buck Thomas; grandson Scott Shook; parents Charlie and Blanch Thompson; infant brother Jack; infant sister Levena; sister Betty Pruitt; brother Charles Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters Jackie Creasy (Phillip), Pamela Thomas, Marsha Canerday (Jake), Johnnie Newton (Robert), and Annette Shook (Greg); brothers Johnny Thompson (Bobbie) and Ted Thompson (Mary); grandchildren Chad and Craig McCormick, Chase Jones, Samantha Parker, Chris Boykin, Teddy Boykin, Maggie Creasy, Angela Sims, Jerry Canerday, Tamra Newton, Blake Newton, Todd Shook, and Pamela Shook; twenty nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mamma Jo Jo’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Thompson, Buddy Thompson, Andy Thompson, Danny Stafford, William Thomas, Charles McCormick, Phillip England, and Oakley Smith.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Courtney, Amy Beth, April, and Ashley.  Special thanks to her special nieces Ginger Kirk and Debra Darby.  Also to Amanda Newton, Sue Clemmons, and Betty Hubbard for the Love they showed to Mamma Jo Jo.
