Jo Ann Chism, age 93, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. Born December 7, 1930 in Tupelo, she was the daughter of former Tupelo Police Chief Robert H. Monaghan and Lois Tucker. After graduation from Tupelo High School, she worked for Hunter Sadler and also in the restaurant industry.
She leaves behind her daughters, Becky Roye of Pontotoc and Barbara Griggs (David) of Fulton; her son, Jimmy Williams (Kathy) of Toccopola; grandchildren, Selena Goolsby (Joe), Butch, Holloway, Tricia Haire (Steven), and Shaun Ihle (Kayla); and great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Kiona, Shelby, Haley, Lexie, Luke Ethan, Krysta, and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Monoghan (Dorothy); her mother, Lois Tucker (Wood); son-in-law, Neal Roye; and a brothers, Thomas Monaghan and Jimmy Monaghan.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at Lee Memorial Park with her grandson, Shaun Ihle officiating. Pegues Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
