Jo Ann Caperton Berry Profile Photo  Jo Ann Caperton Berry, 89, beloved mother and  precious Nana to her grandchildren and everyone she knew, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at NHC Transitional Care Center surrounded by her children.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Kenneth Jarratt officiating.  Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery.  The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jo Ann was born on August 5, 1934 in Maury County to the late Frank Caperton, Sr.  and the late Elise Wisener Caperton Boyette.  On January 27, 1951 she married Jimmy Groves Berry who preceded her in death on July 5, 2007.  She was a long time member of First Church of The Nazarene and active in Children’s Sunday School and Women’s ministries.

Survivors include her son, Jeff (Frankie) Berry of Columbia; three daughters, Jeannie (Wayne) Harris of Columbia, Jill (Mike) Webster of the Cross Bridges Community, Julie (Kenneth) Jarrratt of Madison, Alabama; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, J.C. (June) Caperton, Paul Caperton, Frank Caperton Jr., Sam (Doris) Caperton, and Charles Caperton; grandson, Jeffrey Cheyenne Berry; and an infant great great granddaughter.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Her children would like to extend special appreciation to NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center as well as Caris Hospice for the extraordinary and loving care received by their mother. Also, special thanks to Jackie Robertson and Brenda Patterson for their many kindnesses.
