JM Kennedy was born Aug. 21, 1928, to parents Sam and Essie Harwell Kennedy. He went home to be with the Lord Feb. 4, 2015. He was a minister of the church of Christ for 51 years preaching in over eight states.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Jeff Henderson, grandson, officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years of marriage, Mary Lee Smith Kennedy; daughters, Kathy Gautney (James) and Cindy Kern (family friend, Frankie Himes; sons, Allen Dale Kennedy, and Tommy (Lisa) Kennedy; six grandchildren, Pamela Gautney, Tonya Henderson, David Kern, Chris Gautney, Jaruis Foust, and Levi Kennedy; five great-grandchildren, William (Billy), Jonathan, Benjamin, Howie, and Laura; and several nieces and nephews.
Members of the Gautney family and his Christian family, or West Rogersville Church of Christ, also had a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter and Euel Kennedy, and sisters, Edna Murdock, Lillie Buchanan, and Ree Murray.
The family would like to express thanks to Gentiva Hospital and special caregiver, Pamela Gautney, his granddaughter.
He was a very special person who always walked with God and will be missed.
