Jimmy Wayne Light, age 76, of the Fairview community of Cullman County Alabama passed away during the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Jimmy was born in Marshall County, AL on May 3, 1948 son of J.W. Light and Irene Ryan Light. He was an Arab high school graduate and served in the US Army. He worked his whole career at Metco, Incorporated in Hartselle, AL first as a welder and worked his way up to the Personnel Director before retirement. He also was a poultry grower for 25+ years.
A stranger to Jimmy was simply a friend he hadn’t met yet. Everyone, both family and friends, grew to love him and he certainly loved everyone. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a real jokester. He loved his family immensely and loved to host cook outs and have everyone over to enjoy time spent together. He even built a swimming pool at his home especially for all the family to enjoy.
Jimmy leaves behind a loving family which includes his daughter, Amanda Light (Kenny Schnittker); brother, Roy Neal Ryan (Allisha); grandchildren, Walker Johnson and Breanna Watwood; great grandchildren, Lilah Watwood, Kai Aaron and Sirah Aaron; special niece, Lynn (Sissy) Light (Joey); great nieces and nephew, Maegan Wray (Steven), Joey Brandon Light (Megan), Caelin Ballew (Jonathon) and Shaundra Spurgeon.
Family preceding Jimmy in death includes his parents, J.W. and Irene Light; his son, Jimmy Wayne “Sonny” Light and his sister, Carolyn Runnalls.
A celebration of life service to honor Jimmy will be 2:00 pm on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, AL. The family will receive extended family, friends and guest at a visitation time from 12:00 noon until the service begins at 2:00 pm. Brother Robert Cruise will be officiating. Escorting Jimmy to his final resting place in Brookwood Cemetery will be: B.J. Bahrami, Steven Wray, Joey Brandon Light, Jonathan Ballew, Joey Light and Terry Kelley.
