Jimmy Thomas Profile PhotoIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Thomas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born on September 1, 1932, in McNairy County, TN, to the late Lafayette (Fate) and Wille Mae Chambers Thomas.

Jimmy found his eternal love in Cleatous Moore, and on November 1, 1952, they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that lasted an incredible 70 years. Their bond was a testament to their unwavering commitment to one another.

Throughout his life, Jimmy dedicated himself to hard work and perseverance. He spent 23 years at General Electric before retiring from the company. He also worked at City Lumber Company in Selmer. Jimmy’s strong work ethic resonated with all who knew him.

Besides being a diligent worker, Jimmy had a passion for nurturing the land. Every year, he joined his wife in raising a bountiful vegetable garden that brought joy to their lives and provided sustenance for their loved ones. Jimmy also had a penchant for chewing tobacco—a simple pleasure that accompanied him throughout his days.

Jimmy’s faith played an integral role in his life. As a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, he found solace in spiritual community and embraced the values of love, compassion, and forgiveness.

On August 15, 2023, at the age of 90 Years, 11 Months, 14 Days, Jimmy Thomas departed this world in Jackson, Tennessee. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cleatous Thomas of McKenzie, TN; his loving son, Randy Thomas, and wife Derrinda of McKenzie, TN; two cherished grandsons, Jeremy Thomas and wife Jennifer of McKenzie, TN, Daniel Thomas of McKenzie, TN; a precious great-granddaughter, Harley Grace Thomas of McKenzie, TN. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Thomas and wife Janet of Smyrna, TN; sisters, Mary Sue Smith of Cordova, TN and Joyce Tanner of Stantonville, TN. Additionally, Jimmy leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will continue to honor his memory.

Alongside his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Thomas; sister, Carolyn McFall.

Jimmy Thomas will forever be remembered as a dedicated and hardworking soul who cherished love and family above all else. His warm presence and gentle spirit made an indelible impact on the lives he touched.
