A celebration service to honor Jimmy Neal Burns, age 60, of Decatur, will be Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, 3 p.m., in Shelton Funeral Home Chapel, with Scooter Glenn and L.W. Marsh officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., at the funeral home and will welcome any memories you would like to share with the family.
Jimmy went to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 19, 2012. He passed away at Decatur General Hospital after a long fight with cancer. Jimmy was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Colbert County, to Wacon Burns and Mattie Beatrice Howard Burns. He worked at Decatur General Hospital as a maintenance engineer. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lennis Curtis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis K. Burns of Decatur; two daughters, Selina Peralta of Cullman and Jennifer Glenn of Decatur; his son, Scooter Glenn (Jeni) of North Carolina; two brothers, John Burns (Christy) and Jacky Burns, both of Tuscumbia; his sister, JoAnn Agee of Tuscumbia; his stepfather, James Puckett; his father-in-law, Leonard Pennington; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, all of Franklin County; his grandchildren, Audrena (Josh) Krandel, Corlina, Javier, Miguel, Isaiah, Alexis, Briana, Kayleigh, Aubrie and Isaiah; and his great-grandchildren, Aleah and Alona; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Judes Hospital or the American Cancer Society .
