Jimmy Mike Franks – Obituary

Jimmy Mike Franks, 66, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at his home. He was born in Tupelo on March 12, 1948, to Cletus and Lois Reynolds Franks. He worked for Itawamba County Schools and Road Department , was a self construction heavy equipment operator, and was owner of Franks Store until his health failed. He loved going to auctions, to the coffee shop, and trading around. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, where he loved the Lord dearly. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved all his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, November 18, at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Buddy Rushing, Bro. Bill Adams, and Bro. Mark Tutor officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Faye Franks; one son, Mikeal Franks (Maryanne), both of Peaceful Valley; two daughters, Rhonda Thomas (David) of Dorsey and Dawn Moore (Joe) of Fulton; four grandchildren, Derrek Franks (Kelsey) , Megan Franks, Amber Vandevander (Frankie), and Ashley Thomas; one brother, William “ Wig” Franks (Jeanine); three sisters, Nelda Painter (Donnie) , June McMillen (Eddie), and Donna Upton (Stanley); four great grandchildren, Camrynn Franks, Chance Franks, Baislee Vandevander, and Colby Vandevander.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Willene Russell; his parents; several uncles and aunts.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Windham, Ricky Windham, Jerry Wigginton, J.D. Hale, David Thomas, Joe Moore, and John Barry Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Camrynn Franks, Chance Franks, Colby Vandevander, and Jordan Lindsey.

Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 p. m. Monday and from 11:00 a. m. until service time Tuesday at McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
