Jimmy Lee Staggs, 81, a native of Florence, was born on October 18, 1942. He passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024 surrounded by his family after battling a long fight with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. He was a member of Petersville Church of Christ and was recently baptized on April 15, 2024 by Elder Jim Goldy. Mr. Staggs was a veteran of the US Army; a carpenter and “jack of all trades”. He loved Alabama football, NASCAR and his western TV shows.

Visitation will be June 27, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Tim Grigsby officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Staggs was preceded in death by his parents, Parksie and Bethel Staggs; brothers, Charles, Clebert, and Thomas; and sisters, Peggy and Betty.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris Staggs; daughters, Melinda Thompson (Shane) and Kim Sanderson (Michael); two precious grandchildren, Chandler and Jamie Thompson; and a very special grand-dog and his buddy, Bella; sister, Lola Staggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. David Hollis, Dr. John Baron and Amedisys Hospice for the exceptional care they provided for our daddy. You are true angels on earth!

Daddy will be greatly missed by so many, but we take comfort in knowing he is in Heaven and we will be reunited with him again someday. It was our honor and privilege to be your daughters and we are truly blessed to have had you as our father and mom as our mother.

Fly high daddy and rest in peace! We will see you again someday!
