Jimmy Hannon Cowart, 72, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, AL. Jimmy was born on November 2, 1951, to Mary Ruth and Herbert Cowart and was of the Baptist faith. He served four years in the National Guard and was a patriot that loved God and country. For 38 years, he worked for the railroad and retired as a BNSF conductor. Jimmy loved being on the river, fishing, and camping, and he was a great cook known for his delicious fish. His wife, daughter, and their furbabies were his whole life. Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Dawn Camille Cowart; his daughter, Rachel Smith Karnes (Christopher); his furbabies, D.B., Misty Mum, Gunner, Panda Bear, Camille, Tanker, Luke, and Cotton; his brothers, Boyd Cowart and Todd Cowart (Maria); numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ruth and Herbert Cowart. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.
