Mr. James Finch FlowersBorn and raised in the little North Carolina towns of Wilson and Cofield, Jimmy Flowers was a very hard worker. He worked on his family’s farm, and he drove the bus he rode to school as soon as he qualified, even getting the extra $5 a month for keeping the bus clean. He was a tinkerer too-building, making, and fixing so many things. He became an Eagle Scout with the recognition of saving a life, because he saved someone from drowning in a boating accident. He spend some time at East Carolina University before joining the Air Force. Afterwards, moving south of Atlanta, he worked in avionics on the electronics systems of the planes at Delta Airlines for many years. But he always had side jobs, whether it was landscaping by moving dirt with his ditch witches and crawlers, installing video cables in apartment complexes, making concrete table sets and other decorations to sell, or buying, fixing, and reselling tractors and trailers.

Later, he retired to his “God’s country” mountain top home in Skyline, Alabama. There he continued working hard. In his seventies, by himself, he timbered portions of hi property, driving the logs on what his family called the Frankenstein truck he had designed and built. He was seen with his dogs most of his days on the mountain, Doll and later, Buddy, whom he lost only last year. He had many lasting friendships from all the places of his life. He touched many lives, especially the elderly ones that he was drawn to.

After a hard year of health challenges, Jimmy has passed on and is not hurting anymore. He leaves behind Kathy Flowers, his faithful and loving wife of 34 years; his two daughters, Jennifer Crisco (Al, his favorite son) and Cindy Hale. He had 6 grandchildren, Branden Duke, Ashton Henry, Taylor Duke, Drew Duke, Ethan Duke, and Jackson Crisco. He was blessed with great grandchildren, Chay, Lulu, Ripley, Hazel, Elliot, and Benjamin, also. He also will be missed by his sister, Judith White; and baby brother, Steve Flowers.

The family will make an announcement soon about a gathering to remember and honor Jim in late October.
